Bisabolol (Alpha-bisabolol), also known as Alpha Bisabolol or levomenol, is the primary constituent of German Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla or Matricaria recutita), and is also found naturally in the bark of the (Vanillosmopsis erythropappa) tree of Brazil, which accounts for most of the world’s production of this ingredient. The action of Bisabolol in the skin is very well documented. Natural Alpha-Bisabolol is used in cosmetic products because of its compatibility with the skin and soothing properties. This makes it the preferred active ingredient for protection of the skin against all kinds of daily stress. The most important effects of Bisabolol are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti fungal, anti mycotic and non-allergenic.
